DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT SERVICES:

Acıbadem Hospitals Group hospitals utilize state-of-the-art technology products to provide advanced diagnostic-treatment services at medical units.

Glaucoma

The Ophthalmology departments of Acıbadem Hospitals Group provide early diagnosis and treatment services for glaucoma.

Cataract

Cataract operations are performed using the latest technologies available. Phacoemulsification surgery is successfully implemented. "Yag laser" technology is also implemented as needed.

Refractive surgery

Refractive surgery is a surgical procedure used for advanced diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the cornea, or the front, transparent surface of the eye. The unit is equipped with corneal topography devices capable of high measurement accuracy, devices for measuring the thickness of the cornea, specular microscopy, and keratometers for determining the corneal diameter and corneal refractive power.

Refractive defects in healthy individuals who do not wish to wear eyeglasses or contact lenses are corrected by means of xcimer laser. The unit also performs corneal transplantation (keratoplasty) operations. Patients who are on the waiting list in need of corneal transplantation are operated on, when a suitable tissue becomes available through organ/tissue donations or other means. Contact lenses are another field of activity of this unit. The unit ensures selection of the most appropriate contact lenses for patients and provides patients with information on, and demonstration of correct contact lens usage.

Oculoplastic Surgery

Cosmetic eyelid operations and tear drainage system operations are successfully performed at Acıbadem Hospitals Group hospitals and medical centers.

Retina Diseases

Retinal decollement and vitrectomy operations are successfully performed by the ophthalmology departments of Acıbadem Hospitals Group. The units are equipped with argon laser, fundus fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography devices.

Cornea and Contact Lenses

The unit is equipped with corneal topography devices capable of high measurement accuracy, devices for measuring the thickness of the cornea, specular microscopy, and keratometers for determining the corneal diameter and corneal refractive power.

Strabismus

Strabismus, commonly known as 'turned' or 'lazy' eye, is anomaly of parallel position of the eyes. The two eyes may not line up in the same direction either inward, outward, upward, or downward. Such deviations may be classified roughly as those that are associated with paralysis of one or more eye muscles, and those that are not. Deviations not associated with paralysis may be sub classified as congenital deviations and other deviations. Ophthalmology departments of Acıbadem Health Group ensure that patients are informed about all details of advanced diagnosis and treatment processes. Our aim is to provide the most appropriate and efficient treatment service led by physicians who are specialized in their fields, by utilizing facilities of technological advances to address health concerns of our patients.

Amblyopia (Lazy Eye)

Upon detection of amblyopia, correction of the condition with appropriate glasses may be required. In addition to glasses, closing or covering one eye, and orthoptic treatment may also be implemented by the unit.

Laser Treatment

Ophthalmology departments of Acıbadem Hospitals Group implement the latest laser treatment methods. Our unit has successfully completed several applications in this field.

LCK

Hospitals and medical centers of Acıbadem Hospitals Group successfully implement the FDA approved LCK (Light Touch CK) technique, which is an operation frequently performed throughout the world.  LCK uses radio waves implemented on marked areas of the eye to reshape the cornea. While this operation allows near vision correction, the treatment needs to be renewed every 1 to 3 years.
