The journey of growth and development for Acıbadem, which started out as a district hospital in 1991, continues on the world stage with an agreement made in 2012 with IHH Healthcare Berhad, one of the largest groups in the Far East. New Brands Were Created

PET/CT, one of the efficient imaging techniques of our time, is used in the field of oncology to detect tumors, to determine the tumor’s degree of spreading, to plan radiotherapy, to assess response to treatment and in some cases to determine whether the existing mass is benign or malignant. It also plays an important role in determining the focus of Epilepsy, in neurological cases like Alzheimer’s disease and in investigating the existence of living tissue in the heart after heart attack.
The intraoperative 3 Tesla MR can be used to provide an image of the whole body as well as help provide fast images during brain surgery to clear out tumors. Its special feature of being able to provide images during surgery helps surgeons get an image in a sterile environment whenever they need them without waking the patient or closing the area being operated on.
The FORCE CT, with its use of low dose radiation and low contrast substance, rapid and kidney-friendly screening, and ability to freeze motion and 4D imaging simplifies diagnosis to have a positive impact on the treatment process. With high resolution and speed, especially small and hidden lesions in the lungs and colon are detected to make early detection of many diseases easier.
Flash CT is a fast, low radiation tomography device. It produces cardiac and lung scans in particular as well as images of almost all other parts of the body. With the Flash CT a whole body tomography can be taken in 4 seconds, a heart angio in 0.25 seconds and a lung scan in just 0.6 seconds without having to hold your breath. Due to it allowing movement during operation and a very short take time, it is a useful device for trauma patients, child patients and obese patients.
Whole-body MRI is one of the most important diagnostic devices among the magnetic resonance imaging technologies that are available today. The device allows completion of a whole-body scan in just 45 minutes; and thus, facilitates detection suspicious masses at an early stage, before symptoms of the disease are apparent.
3 Tesla MRI is a state of the art technology imaging device that can get images twice as fast and clear as the 1.5 Tesla MRI with its filming power. The device achieves high-resolution detailed images of thin cross sections, thanks to its movement flexibility. The high signal power makes it possible to detect even smaller lesions.
The 3 Dimensional Digital Mammography with Tomosynthesis device with the capacity to take two dimensional and multi cross section images, a series of digital images in thin layers to synthesize the three dimensional image of the breast are taken and thus the three dimensional image of the breast can be synthesized. This enables detection of the problematic areas and breast tumors.
With the 4 Dimensional Breast Ultrasonography the whole breast can be displayed in standard poses and the image sets that are obtained can later be assessed on a special screen by the doctor. The images can be reorganized in any cross sectional plane on the screen and rescaled.
3D Imaging and Navigation System for Prostate Biopsies is used in the early diagnosis of prostate cancer. The 3D ultrasound images used in MRI and biopsy procedures are consolidated. The navigation feature determines the presence of cancerous tumors.
The screening method 'Scanning with light' uses light to enable an instantaneous diagnosis of cervical cancer or precursor lesions in a procedure that takes two minutes and the necessary treatment can be started without delay. With the scanning with light procedure, a diagnosis can be made two years earlier than the PAP smear test.
Digital Substruction Angiography (DSA) enables all of the veins in our body to be imaged with its special imaging technique. With the special Vazo CT method it holds the device can provide images of the thinnest veins with a small amount of contrast substance administered to the veins (without entering the arteries). Thus the risk that could be imposed by the contrast substance is minimized. DSA is used both for diagnosis and for treatment.
EUS (Endo ultrasound) is a procedure which produces images of the internal organs using specialist equipment developed for digestive system endoscopies. EBUS (Endobronchial Ultrasound) technology provides ultrasound examination of the airway wall, the pathology adjacent to the wall and in the lymph nodes in the thoracic cavity.
EOS (3D Skeletal System Imaging) is an imaging device which provides front, back and side images of the spine and the entire lower extremities at the same time. It is used in spinal curvatures such as scoliosis and kyphosis as well as angular deformities of the lower extremities.
Ductoscopy is used in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. It is a diagnosis and treatment procedure used for viewing possible cancerous, wart-like lesions in the milk ducts which result in a discharge from the nipple. The procedure is also used to remove the lesions.Lesions that have been identified can be removed during the ductoscopy procedure without requiring surgery.
Truebeam STx, which incorporates advanced radiotherapy techniques used in cancer treatment, such as IMRT, IGRT, Gated RT, RapidArc, SRS and SBRT; offers fast, correct and precise radiation delivery to small tumors. Truebeam STx can be used for treatment of all tumors that require radiotherapy. The device is particularly preferred for treatment of small tumors of the head and the body, and tumors which pose a specific risk of adjacency to specific organs. As radiation delivery is focused on the target, healthy tissues are minimally affected. Fast radiation delivery system shortens duration of radiotherapy, and high image quality allows better positioning and precise radiation delivery.
Trilogy is a Linear Accelerator (LINAC) that comprises three different radiotherapy methods; namely, IGRT, IMRT and SRT/SRC. Trilogy is used for both diagnosis and treatment purposes, and provides significant advantages to the patient.
CyberKnife, also known as the space scalpel, is a robotic radiosurgery system that has been designed to apply cancer treatment to the whole body with less than a millimeter precision. Thanks to this system, the radiation bundles are used with focus to treat all cancerous areas of the brain and body with high doses. During treatment, healthy tissue is protected to the maximum from the effects of radiation.
The Gamma Knife Icon is used for AVM (congenital arteriovenous malformation), brain tumors and functional disorders. Being a procedure which eliminates anesthesia and intensive care and only lasts a few hours, Gamma Knife Iconprovides patients with treatment without blood and scalpels. Most patients are able to return to their normal lives the day after the treatment.
The Single Dose Radiotherapy method enables a “single dose of radiation during surgery” for breast cancer treatment. After the tumor is removed by surgery, the device is placed on the location of the extracted tumor with a special applicator and after the necessary measurements, the healthy tissue is completely protected while a high dose of radiation is applied to the area to complete the localized treatment. In some patients this procedure eliminates the need for radiation after the operation or shortens the duration of the treatment.
The 'da Vinci' robot enables operations to be performed with tiny incisions and enables 3 dimensional images to be taken. All the system needs is a doctor seated at a console outside of the operation area directing the robot. It is used in a wide range of procedures but especially in urology, cardiovascular surgery, general surgery, ear nose and throat and gynecology operations.
The advanced three dimensional technology The Navio Knee Robot transforms the patient’s own anatomical features to a virtual surgical plan. The device enables the standard mechanical shaving plan of deteriorated cartilage tissue to be checked and changed if necessary without even making an incision for the operation (in virtual form on the robot computer). This reduces any incision and shaving errors that cannot be recovered during the operation to a minimum.
Excimer Laser reshapes the cornea to correct vision problems including short sightedness, far sightedness and astigmatism. FEMTO Cataract Laser is used to treat cataracts, a condition which causes a loss of vision due to a clouding of the lens. Once the patient’s eye is measured the entire procedure is performed using laser. The location of the lens is prepared using a laser and the cataract is removed.

Paper-Free Digital Infrastructure
Following technological developments closely, Acıbadem has a strong communication network including a “Hospital Information Communication System”, on which all patient records are stored, between all of the group hospitals. Image Transfer Systems operate within and between the hospitals. The “Cerebral System”, which provides the possibility of paper-free treatment, enables medical information to be monitored throughout the electronic information network. All of the patient’s radiological images are recorded with the PACS system and can be viewed real-time in all of the Acıbadem Hospitals.
